  • “I trained with Lindsay for three years, and if I didn't have to move away, I'd still be training with her. I came to Lindsay with the generic, non-specific goal many of us have of "getting in shape", and she really helped me hone in on what I actually wanted. We tried a variety of approaches in the beginning, but when she saw I had some aptitude for barbell lifts, we shifted focus and programming to those. She taught me about proper form, progressive overload, and the massive benefits of unilateral training, but also about listening to my body and proper recovery. She really pushed me to overcome many of the mental hurdles I struggled with when it came to training.   • “Following a routine bone density screening in my mid-60s, my internist called to tell me that I had osteoporosis, a surprising finding given that I was otherwise in excellent health, cycled vigorously, and fortunately never experienced a fracture.  But the facts were the facts, and after consulting with an endocrinologist who diagnosed the underlying condition, I learned that the recommended course of treatment included yearly infusions of Reclast to slow the bone loss, and the addition of weight bearing exercises to strengthen my bones, improve my balance, and increase my muscle mass.  I signed up right away for the infusions, but it took me a full year, and an additional stern warning from my physician, to move forward with a program of personal training.  What did I know from kettle bells, free weights,  lunges and squats?  And why should I care, especially since I was sure that any program would aggravate my shoulders, my lower back, and my pocketbook.  Then I found Lindsay whose broad area of expertise includes working with older women and slowly and safely turning them into the strongest version of themselves that they wish to become.  The last year and a half has been transformational in so many ways.  I have come to accept that if I am not persistently building muscle the laws of nature and aging  — and, yes, being a woman — will lead me to lose muscle, so doing nothing is simply not an option.  I have also learned that it is quite easy to fool yourself about things like balance and core strength until you find yourself struggling with the basics.  But Lindsay is warm, and patient, thoughtful and imaginative, and takes extraordinary pleasure in watching her clients meet their goals.   May I add that I truly believe that attention to my core, and pelvic floor have had an astonishing effect on my capacity for sexual pleasure.  It is a commitment of time and resources to undertake a personal training program, but with Lindsay there is never a wasted moment.  Your goals are her goals — and this year the goal for our work together is for me to be able to complete two — yes two— unassisted pull-ups.  And we are getting there!  Thank you Lindsay!” - Mary Ann F.
